It improves debugging experience.
This optimization is unfortunately invalid.
This is much more performant.
It does not represent an immediate item to do, but a question, whose answer is likely no.
It does not hold when a void regex lies deep inside a regex (such as a failed regex string), and it is not worth fixing, since we don't actually distinguish between the two cases.
