OpenSats is a 501(c)(3) non-profit org supporting contributors to Bitcoin Core and related free and open source initiatives. All donations to our GitHub sponsors page will go to our general fund which will be allocated by our 9 person board to well deserving projects which help further our mission to support the Bitcoin ecosystem of contributors.

Here are some ideas of what you can tell your potential sponsors:

• We are 100% passthrough non-profit org. All funds you donate to projects, go to projects and the organization doesn't take a cut. (Most charities take between 5-30% for operations).
• Open Sats Initiative, Inc. (EIN 85-2722249) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All gifts and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
• We are Bitcoin ONLY! We support Bitcoin Core... no other crytpocurrencies.
• We support all FOSS contributors, whether its developers, designers, code reviewers, researchers, educators, etc.
• Bitcoin is open source and your donation will go a long way to ensuring that the contributors who maintain and build on it are well funded. This is extremely important work and without donors like you, many contributors will end up moving to the private sector.
