This is a fork of the NCEP NWP production libraries required to compile NCEP models. This is an unofficial, out-of-date version of the libraries maintained for back-compatibility with older versions of UPP with WRF (https://dtcenter.org/community-code/unified-post-processor-upp-wrf). Funding to support WRF data in UPP has ended, and so this code is now frozen. Users may find help from the community by posting to the WRF Users Forum: https://forum.mmm.ucar.edu/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=98
WRF users who need to make changes to this code in the future should consider forking this repository if they wish to make their changes available to the public.

Several files in w3nco/v2.0.6/src had to be patched for thread-safety, (OpenMP compilers), and for using the GNU compilers in general. Files in bacio/v2.0.1/src had to be extended with preprocessor flags for MACOSX. nemsio_gfs had to be modified to exclude non-standard code.
To build these libraries, users are advised to load the same modules and set the environment variables (compilers and flags) as in the respective module file of NEMSfv3gfs (NEMSFV3GFS_DIR/modulefiles/SYSTEM.COMPILER/fv3).
The libraries are built and installed with
./make_ncep_libs.sh -s MACHINE -c COMPILER -d NCEPLIBS_DIR -o OPENMP [-m mpi] [-a APPLICATION]
It is recommended to install the NCEPlibs into their own directory, which must be created before running the installer. Further information on the command line arguments can be obtained with
./make_ncep_libs.sh -h
The include files and libraries are installed to NCEPLIBS_DIR/{include,lib}
To remove the installed libraries, simply delete the contents of NCEPLIBS_DIR.
