Note that [characters not allowed in BibTeX](https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/408548/9075) are completely removed - independent of this configuraiton. These characters are `{`, `}`, `(`, `)`, `,`, `=`, `\`, `"`, `#`, `%`, `~`', and `'`.
