I installed js-UI recently because I was expanding my zwave network and starting to have some issues with dead nodes etc. Since then I have moved the placement of my zwave dongle which has improved the functioning of the network. and have most devices on 1 hop, with 1 on 2 hop and 2 on 3. It seems like things that should hop because of relatively low connections, still try to connect directly.
Let me back up and describe what i have. I'm running home assistant in a proxmox VM, with a zooz 800 lr dongle attached via a usb extension cord. My network consists of 50 ish devices most of which are wall switches and dimmers, with a few 500, but most 700 and 800. I have 2 connected long range but everything else connected normally.
My 2 LR nodes pass the health check 10/10. Every other node that I have checked including nodes 4 feet away from the dongle, have a 10/10 failure in return rate and show Normal Power, which is in red.
These switches seem to be working fine with automations in HA.
Several questions:
Am I worrying about something I shouldn't? If I didn't see the health check statistics, I would be thinking things were running pretty well. And is there something I can do to try and fix the return issue.
The house is large, 5000 square foot, but only 2 devices are on 3 hop, 1 on 2 hop and the rest on 1 hop. Around half of the 1 hops have a yellow connection, and it while it seems like they might perform better using the mesh, they don't. When I try to force the route things don't seem to improve. Is there something I am doing in settings or something that cause these devices not to hop?
