Investigate what fixes datanode #475

This PR appears to fix an e error datanode has been having where it explodes mid-run: #471

However it is not immediately obvious why. Likely possibilities are:

More thorough process killing
- However this issue has been seen locally only running one at once and seemingly with everything killed
Longer waits on datanode calls
- This one is entirely possible, however we should narrow down what wait is necessary if so to avoid unnecessary delays
