Which Umbraco version are you using? (Please write the exact version, example: 10.1.0)
v15.2.1
Bug summary
Wind your way back in time to yesteryear and V13, and consider the editor, blazing through writing their blog post, they would often pick an image to be associated with that blog post, perhaps it's someone holding up a large cheque, planting a tree, or a stock image of some office people looking focussed, I don't know, the image is not truly important. The thing is in this context they are pretty much always uploading a new image to freshly associate with the blog post... with V13, the Media picker opens up, they click upload, drag the image in, close the dialog and they are away onto the next bit...
... but these days, in V15, these days, you do that same thing that I described above, and the image isn't automatically selected when you upload it, so you close the dialog, not having selected the image, then you have to go err, then you either have to navigate and try and find where you uploaded it to pick it again, or you just upload the image again and make sure it's selected... and tut.
v13 Behaviour - 'selecty'

v15 Behaviour - 'no selecty'
MediaPicker-NoImageSelecty-V15Behaviour.mp4
Specifics
No response
Steps to reproduce
Create a Doc Type called Blog Post
with a text field called Title
and a text field called Author
with a Media Picker, call it Main Blog Post Image
Add an RTE call it 'Article Text'
(isn't naming hard)
Then create a content item based on your new blog post doc type
go to pick a Main Blog Post Image, and instead of selecting an existing media item, choose to upload a picture of a cat from your desktop... then click submit... doh you forgot to select the image!
I think somehow you are most likely to do this if there is only one image in the folder, or loads of images, if there are only two or three, somehow you feel more inclined to select it... isn't context interesting?
Anyway do this same thing in an old V13 version you might have lying around, see how it's somehow much more helpful if the media item you just uploaded is selected for you, like Umbraco is your friend, and it knows what you wants to do and it's helping you, even before AI!
Expected result / actual result
I'd expect it to automatically select the image you just uploaded.

Firstly, a big thank you for raising this issue. Every piece of feedback we receive helps us to make Umbraco better.
We really appreciate your patience while we wait for our team to have a look at this but we wanted to let you know that we see this and share with you the plan for what comes next.
We'll assess whether this issue relates to something that has already been fixed in a later version of the release that it has been raised for.
If it's a bug, is it related to a release that we are actively supporting or is it related to a release that's in the end-of-life or security-only phase?
We'll replicate the issue to ensure that the problem is as described.
We'll decide whether the behavior is an issue or if the behavior is intended.
We wish we could work with everyone directly and assess your issue immediately but we're in the fortunate position of having lots of contributions to work with and only a few humans who are able to do it. We are making progress though and in the meantime, we will keep you in the loop and let you know when we have any questions.
