Please fill out the following:

  • **Sway Version: 1.10.1

  • Debug Log:
    see below

  • Configuration File:
The default configuration with the following additions:

output DP-1 scale 2 pos 1080 430
output DP-2 scale 2 pos 0 0 transform 270

workspace 2 output DP-2
workspace 3 output DP-1
  • Description:
The initial workspace on a vertical display does not correctly create windows vertically as well, but created them horizontally (very thin)

The left display is operated with a vertical setup (starting with workspace 2)
The right display is operated in a horizontal setup (starting with workspace 3)
The mouse starts on the left display after sway start

When two new windows (terminals in the example log) are created in the vertical display on the default start workspace 2, the windows are placed horizontally, next to each other (left and right), making them barely useable.
When another workspace like number 1 is selected on the veritical display, creating two new windows will stack them vertically, on top of each other (one above, one below). If the default workspace is empty and unselected (destroyed) and then selected again, new windows are also created vertically (above and below) making them useable again.
