pagekite --signup gets stuck on

*** There was a problem communicating with PageKite.net.
*** 
*** Please verify that you have a working Internet connection and try again!
*** Signing up ...

My internet is working fine. I also tried https://pagekite.net/2017-10-14/Connection_Problems_on_Debian_9 - it doesn't help
