Overview

As proposed in the 4/24/2022 biweekly meeting, a mission and vision statement will help guide present and future contributors. Our goal is to bring shared direction across contributors and help potential contributors determine if they'd like to become a collaborator.

First drafts of both a mission and vision statement are written below. To get to a final draft, we will work with group members who’re interested in writing these statements and bring them before our working group for final approval. Once approved, we will bring them to the larger OpenSSF org.

Initial Drafts

Allstar Mission Draft - v0.1

Create a tool (Allstar) to monitor Git-based repositories for unsafe security practices and drive resolution of those practices through policy enforcement.

Allstar Vision Draft - v0.1

OSS repositories can be security compliant using continuous monitoring and enforcement of security best practices.
