Code areas for refactor

There's several code areas that are unused, unclear, wrongly scoped, or wrongly located. In most cases, these are leftovers from the original Ferveo codebase or intermediate artifacts during one of our refactors that didn't make it through properly. When possible, they have been marked with a comment referencing this issue.

These areas will be subject of a future refactor, possible after the main work of Handover and Refresh is done.
