The link provided at https://webpg.org/?view=downloads for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webpg-firefox/ is broken. Did not find the WebPG extension with search either. Is the WebPG project dead?

I think is probably dead since Firefox extensions change a bit its APIs and this extension will not work on recent versions of Firefox. Further gpg could also change its communication APIs and could be not compatibility at all.

I loved this extension when had the time to use it without issues. Now we need a recent project that could have similar features. Very helpful.

Let me know if you found a decent alternative.

Cheers!

Well, Mailvelope seems to be a good alternative of using OpenPGP key pair. Available as Firefox extension and Chrome extension.
Without OpenPGP you can just encrypt the text with AES 256-bit using Encipher and protect it with password. Text can be given also via file. It has only Chrome extension and independent app for GNU/Linux and MS Windows. Can be used for simpler situation where people would not like to generate key pair and share it.
