Kolide cannot start UI Menu Bar icon in unregistered state

Because of my previous issue #1848, I had to run sudo /var/kolide-k2/k2device.kolide.com/updates/launcher/1.9.4/launcher uninstall to completely remove Kolide from my machines (Ubuntu 24.04) to attempt to re-register them. After a fresh installation using the latest .deb (1.9.6), the UI Menu Bar icon doesn't show, even after a machine reboot.

In order to register the device and have the UI Menu Bar icon properly display (after another full reboot), manual registration had to be performed by fetching the registration URL from Kolide's menu.json file.
