so i took a long look at this over the wknd and don't think i'll be able to do it without your help. it's much more complicated than bitc or prores because i think the output container format is built into the output location.
maybe we can look at it together at some stage

Sounds good. This script does some good stuff and analyses dcps pretty well but it is not terribly well structured and therefore difficult to edit.
