Teleport refuses to connect? #109
Comments
Hi ! I think it's the same problem as the others users, Fixed pre-release : https://github.com/johndbritton/teleport/releases/tag/v1.3.4-pre The problem with this pre-release 1.3.4 is that it's not build, only sources exist... I tried to build the pre-release and the problem was solved for me. |
The pre-release should work, unfortunately the automated builds on this repo (powered by fastlane) have stopped working and I don't have time to fix them right now. Also, Apple has announced a new feature, "Universal Control" which should be coming to macOS Monterey soon. Once that feature is in the operating system, it seems Teleport will no longer be necessary. |
Well, the usefulness of Teleport will depend on what machines you want to control, because anything below Monterey won’t work with “Universal Control”. In those cases, we will still need Teleport and I would like it to still work under future operating systems.

Indeed. If Universal Control doesn't work with prior macOS versions, I'd really hate to see Teleport dropped. Teleport works fine here with Monterey on my main iMac and High Sierra on my old 2013 laptop that will not support Monterey. |
Can you share how you built it or share the app? Thanks. |
@JoshDantzler FYI I built on Monterey in Xcode13, and commented here about the pull request. Huge improvement. |
The automated build is working again, so there is a notarized binary available on the pre-release that should fix this: https://github.com/johndbritton/teleport/releases/tag/v1.3.4-pre |
Question
I have been trying to get teleport to work for me, but whatever I do it refuses to connect.
I'm on a Mac mini 2012 running Mojave, and trying to control a Macbook Pro 2017 running Big Sur.
First tried using version 1.3.3 but to no avail. Also tried 1.2.2, same issue.
I'm sharing the Macbook of course, and have done the privacy settings on both macs.
The Mac mini is connected to the network via ethernet cable and the Macbook Pro is on wifi. It's the same local network, and I can control the Macbook via screen sharing, and other local network services work fine.
Tried to put the Mac mini on the same wifi also, same thing there. Just refuses to connect.
I have read other threads and tried all kinds of settings, nothing works.
Is it a lost cause or can anyone help me getting it working? Seems like a great little app if it just would play ball.
All the best,
Sebastian
