Ghostty Crashes When Scrolling to End of File in Vim.

Description:

Ghostty crashes when scrolling to the end of a file using the j key in Vim. This issue is found on macOS Sequoia 15.3 with an Apple M2 Max. The bug does not occur with Neovim.

Steps to Reproduce:

• Open Ghostty (version 1.10).
• Launch Vim (Vi IMproved 9.1) and open any text file.
• Scroll down using j repeatedly (not G).
  -Ghostty crashes when pressing j on the last line.

Environment:

• OS: macOS Sequoia 15.3
• Processor: Apple M2 Max
• Ghostty Version: 1.10
• Vim Version: Vi IMproved 9.1

Additional Info:

• Happens with mid to large file sizes, regardless of the Vim configuration.
• Other terminal emulators (e.g., iTerm2, Terminal.app) work fine.

Held down j for a minute or so and didn't get any crashes on Linux (Ghostty 1.1.0-r39.g4eb5885-1-arch, Vim 9.1.1065), here's a perfectly intact Ghostty from after I reached the bottom:

If you could get a stack trace from a debug build or something, that would be nice too.

Edit: also just retried with vim -u NONE, no crash. But now I'm wondering, does running tput bel from a shell crash Ghostty?¹

1. I had the bell disabled in my config, but when I ran vim with -u NONE I noticed info(io_handler): BELL in the stderr of Ghostty which reminded me that I had disabled the bell. It's the only thing I can think of being possibly problematic. ↩

Yes, it could be something related to the BELL, though tput bel doesn't crash it.

It happened to me twice this morning, but at the present moment I am not able to reproduce it.

As a side note, I forgot to mention that when it happens, usually my window is split into multiple panes, and it happens regardless of whether Vim is zoomed to full window or not.

I'll try to build it in debug (as soon as possible).

MacOS (15.3, M4 chip); Ghostty 1.1.1-main+cdd20990, Vim 9.1 - same results as kat, held j for a few minutes after reaching the bottom of a ~1500 line file and could not find any crashes. Here's the logs, the only time I even found an error was when opening/closing the file & buffer:
