Disable mouse by default

I see on #4618 that there is some discussion about link clickable or not using shift. On my side, I’m looking for an option that completely disable the mouse by default (and use shift if I want it to be enabled), but I can’t find it.

Well I also really hate the mouse handling in vim, and I can’t change the default settings on all the remote machines I access. terminator doesn’t have the option, but I’m installing a patched libvte from which I dropped the mouse support, it does the trick: https://git.grifon.fr/alarig/SwordArMor-gentoo-overlay/src/branch/master/x11-libs/vte/files/vte-0.60.3-disable-mouse.patch

I personally NEVER use the mouse when using TUIs, and so I'd love the ability to just completely disable mouse reporting, period.

I've tried Ghostty and after a little fiddling with the settings (especially term=xterm-256color) I have to say, I do quite like what I see.

However, I mostly work on remote boxes with SSH, and mostly with tools like mc on there (yes I #am# this sort of pleb using a file manager to see stuff, fight me ;–) ). Now, mc does support mouse inputs, but I don't like the mouse support. Because then I have no easy way to copy stuff from mcedit or its viewer, as a mouse click makes it scroll.

On macOS terminal, I can disable the reporting of mouse inputs (cmd+r), so for all the processes in the terminal know, I don't even have a mouse.

I'd like to have this in Ghostty too. I did look at the docs but could not find anything that would allow me this.

My preferred way would be if mouse inputs are disabled by default, or if I could configure it that way.

I hope I'm right here with my question/suggestion. It sounds that way, at least :)
