Etcd only compresses without defrag, resulting in dbSizeInUse being much smaller than dbSize ectd.Can etcd reuse this space?

Yes, etcd (actually bbolt, the backend storage engine used by etcd ) will try to reuse the free page as much as possible, and will request new space if no any existing free pages meet the requirement (i.e. not continuous pages). So you'd better to run defragmentation to reclaim the unused space.
