In that discussion, it was suggested that Flymake support for LanguageTool could be added to GNU ELPA. I'm not a Flymake user myself, so I'm not sure what condition this package is in, but if it's in good shape then perhaps that's something you could consider.

I don't have strong objection to this, but I have not have time to enhancement this plugin with #2. The implementation is still old using the command line and not the server JAR file. I think this should be good in good shape after that improvement.
Other than that, I use ELPA and MELPA at the same time, so submitting this package to ELPA isn't the top priority to me. Provide this piece of information just for the record.
There was a recent discussion on the emacs-devel mailing list about how grammar checking would be a desirable feature for Emacs.
