How does the ignore text feature work?

Hi!

Could you please tell how does the ignore text feature work?

For example, I'm monitoring the changes at the page below:

https://github.com/dgtlmoon/changedetection.io/releases

And how do I ignore the "stars" updates?
Though, of course I'm happy for the project that the star count is increasing all the time!

Do I just enter "stars" into the ignore text field?

Yes that's correct, each line in the 'ignore text' settings box simply ignores that line of text as a 'change'

Aha, so if the line starts with the "Stars" and the Ignore Text is "Stars" — then this whole line would be ignored.

It doesn't seem that the Ignore Text is working, for me.

The stars are still being monitored.

This discussion is quite old already. But I'll reply either way :D. Your ignore text is "Stars". But the content is actually only "Star". Remove the "s" in the end.

Is a line containing that text or a line starting with that text?
I'm looking to ignore a line that predictably ends with a specific phrase
I'd be happy with a set of regex expressions or a regex mode for this. It'd also open up a lot of other possibilities

I think the [diff] page should also show which lines are ignored.. i also struggle to understand why it didnt work sometimes 🗡️

I was thinking perhaps a light-grey background for the lines that would match the ignore-text rule

but yes, in your case, any line that contains any of the 'ignore text' is ignored and not considered during change detection, anywhere in that line
