Allow users to define and invoke external tools/APIs directly through the model, enhancing integration with workflows

Proposed Implementation

Add a functions parameter (list of function schemas) and function_call parameter (auto/manual) to the API request.

Example schema:

functions = [{
    "name": "get_weather",
    "description": "Fetch current weather for a location",
    "parameters": {
        "type": "object",
        "properties": {
            "location": {"type": "string", "description": "City name"},
            "unit": {"type": "string", "enum": ["celsius", "fahrenheit"]}
        },
        "required": ["location"]
    }
}]

Model Training/Fine-Tuning

Fine-tune models to recognize when to trigger functions based on user prompts.

Output structured JSON arguments for function calls (e.g., {"location": "Tokyo", "unit": "celsius"}).
