FWIW - With the realization a few features are still WIP, I was able to perform some level of basic feature testing successfully with the extension locally using the branch "v4-from-scratch" with minor enhancements.
I submitted a PR for that branch with the aforementioned minor enhancements that I had to make in order to get the extension to work for some basic features using my Chrome browser setup.
BTW - The newly enhanced sidebar extension looked awesome when I was using/testing with it. :)
While a warning was displayed for some time, latest release of Chrome disables the plugin for not following the best practices.
The Tooltivity article "Why Is My MarkDownload - Markdown Web Clipper Chrome Extension No Longer Supported?" indicates that this is caused by the plugin not using the V3 manifest format. The grace period has ended... 😔
