Per our conversation, I began the work on the UI/UX of the Repo & Cluster Views, see the attached Draft PR. I'll include some design docs I made in Excalidraw to offer some more concrete examples of what directions we could take things in.
More or less the current state, I don't personally consider this the best experience, but I can't deny the utilitarian efficacy it offers.
Paper Stack Design
Probably my personal favorite approach, this would emphasize the high level summary of each cluster and move the data in the direction of an icon and further away from text until the maintainer desired to step into a given cluster.
File Tree Design
Effectively recreates a code editor view, the benefits are quite apparent but the lift involved would be greater.
Tab Design
I like this one if you want to be able to dig deeper into a given Issue while keeping the highlevel overview of the cluster at hand.
Hub & Spoke Design
Looks cool, but less helpful to work with on an individual cluster level, but it does enable the next model quite nicely.
Constellation Design
A very nice way to consider an entire repository's Issues at a glance.
Folder Design
I don't like this one very much but I'm including it for completeness.
Stem Design
Another I don't like too much, but here it is.
Train Car Design
Reorients the existing UI horizontally, potentially more legible while still not being quite so dense. Enables the following Repo View.
Archive Design
Reads easily and coherently for me without being too noisy or information dense but still very much in the realm of "there's a lot of text onscreen at once" with no real signaling of the user's focus.
Cluster View
Forgot to add this, the idea I had in mind is that you would click on a given cluster in some of the above Repo Views and be taken to the dedicated Cluster View.
Hope you enjoy. Cheers.
NOTE: Apologies in advance for the inconsistent image aspect ratios and naming conventions, just imagine everywhere that it says Issue Summary that I meant Cluster Summary. Cheers.
