We originally use Kind and switched to k3d for two main reasons

• Now that Suse has acquired Rancher, the commercial and community investments in k3d are tracking higher than kind
• k3d startup time is faster and memory usage is less

Kind is a great solution and most of our labs will work in Kind once you create the Kind cluster.
