Related to #83

Once the new pipeline automation being developed in #83 is complete we would like to validate the power measurements for Falco we are measuring with Kepler.

This is so we have confidence in the measurements we are providing. If we find any inconsistencies we would like to work with the Kepler team to investigate them.

One possible approach to validate the measurements is to use Scaphandre https://github.com/hubblo-org/scaphandre it is a similar tool to Kepler that also has a Prometheus exporter and has a Kubernetes integration.

There has been some academic research in this area including this paper https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.05647 that was presented at the Hot Carbon 23 conference. It looked at a number of tools including Scaphandre but not Kepler unfortunately.

Update

  • We need a way to deploy this with Flux, for example, using a Helm chat or the raw k8s manifest deployment files.
  • Scaphandre maintainers are eager to help with this
