How can I take x from one anchor and y from another?

In this example, I want the arrows to point straight down:

I tried to take x and y from the anchors individually, as you can see in the following code, but apparently that's not supported. Is there a way around this?

Yes, this is supported. See: https://cetz-package.github.io/docs/basics/coordinate-systems/#perpendicular

Short: (<coordinate-a>, "|-" or "-|", <coordinate-b>), where "|-": x from a, y from b and "-|" being the opposite.
