Great question. I do indeed hope to add support for this. I would like it to be simpler for people to style their questions / add client-side scripting. AutoMan really is about marshaling the data back and forth, and right now I think it imposes its will a bit too much on how things should look (which is basically kinda ugly because I am not a designer). This is definitely on my to-do list, but I have lots of other things on that list, so I would be very happy to accept contributions. If you're interested in hacking on this a bit, perhaps you could create a fork and experiment a bit. Feel free to propose ideas in this ticket as well.

sorry for the delayed response. I will play around with it! I also want to see about ExternalQuestion, which would be a bigger ordeal. Ampcrowd allows adding new html templates, could be a good idea starting point. I havent seen much about visual design and how it affects worker productivity in your group or Amplab (Berkeley) research, but my armchair hypothesis is that it might be worth considering.

are you still thinking about putting together a user guide for this?
