Validated versions of openvswitch

Hello.

I am interested in utilizing Openvswitch 3.5.0 as a dependency in my virt lab handling some functionality with Cloudstack. I have checked the documentation of latest cloudstack and see this section:

These versions are quite old, so I am soliciting feedback whether or not anyone is running more upgraded versions successfully with integration of the OVS plugin.

I am targeting specifically a 3.X version.

I wonder if you wanted to use OVS just to replace linux bridge, or use GRE tunnels ?

Mostly using it for portgroup allocation for libvirtd and VLAN tagging. Ideally I want:

• SR-IOV for North-south
• DPDK for East-west
• all accelerated via mellanox

But the integration of openvswitch into cloudstack is essential. I don;t see a lot of movement on the docs or even in discussions with regards to openvswitch.

if so, I think you do not need to follow the instruction and use GRE isolation, just create zone with VLAN isolation (not GRE)

Openvswitch is the middle layer I'd like to interoperate with CloudStack, but their current version is at 3.50.0 and the docs reference much lower versions. Was hoping I would get more info about the OVS plugin and recent versions of openswitch with these discussions.

Offloading requirements are all within openvswitch, but if Cloudstack plugin cannot work with the most recent versions it's a moot point. I guess maybe I should try and deploy and open tickets against the ovs plugin.

I tested ubuntu 24.04 with openswitch last December, I do not remember there are some issues.
the openvswitch version should be 3.3.0
