Including CRaC for container image #4118
Comments
I don't believe it's changed in any useful way, but I can add it to the agenda again for discussion at the PMC level. |
https://openjdk.org/projects/crac/ is only at an OpenJDK project level at this point upstream where possible ideas for JDK main-line integration or otherwise research oriented things that might never get into main-line get explored. At Adoptium we ship features that have been integrated into the main-line JDK project. Since the Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint (CRaC) project hasn't been integrated into mainline yet there is no intention to include those patches in the released builds we ship. This is similar to, other projects, say the Leyden project. So this would be an upstream OpenJDK decision to make first. If you'd like to propagate getting CRaC integrated into main-line JDK, you can opt to do so at [email protected] mailing list. Should it ship in main-line at some point in the future we'd pick it up from there that way. |
We've discussed this at the PMC last week and the situation hasn't changed in any significant way. No plan to include CRaC into Temurin builds, thus Temurin containers yet. Thanks. |
Features that impact the whole project (e.g. Adding a new OpenJDK distribution) are made over at the adoptium repository.
Otherwise, please describe what enhancement you would like to see in the build scripts:
#3604
It has been a year since this issue was closed, has the situation changed?
I would appreciate it if you could discuss this again as I am hoping that CRaC will be included in Adoptium.
