I made this issue with @melanorian

It's not so much about using the technical aspect of tags, but rather how to use tags in context of versioning research software:

At what interval does it make sense to create a new tag
What sort of naming scheme do you use for tagging research software
How do you refer to a specific version of the software in research papers
how do you actually tag using github/github desktop/bash

So really it is more tutorial on using tags for researchers
