For Linux and Steam Desk users, knowing the ProtonDB rating of the game you're viewing on the Steam store would be extremely useful!

Note that as far as "being playable on Linux/Steam Deck" goes, you have multiple ratings:

  • Valve's (Steam Deck)
    • From Verified, to Playable, to Unsupported
  • ProtonDB Medals
    • From Platinum, to Gold, to Silver, etc.
  • ProtonDB Click Play (new-ish, not sure if it's used in more than the dashboard)
    • From Tier 1, to Tier 2, and so on.
  • And probably other less popular alternatives

As someone who plays on Linux and would love to acquire a Deck in the future, I also see a lot of value in a feature like that, but it doesn't feel quite as straightforward to add.

  • You could choose to add only the Valve rating (the one officially supported by Steam), but you'd be missing out on what ProtonDB has to offer, and while understandable, that'd be a shame.
  • If you were to add the ProtonDB rating... which one? What if they change or add ratings later?

So while I'm not against the idea, I want to suggest something else that's hopefully more approachable:

  • How about adding a button that links to the game's ProtonDB page similar to the PC Gaming Wiki one? This could also be done on the SteamDB website. As an added bonus of choosing this option, ProtonDB already offers links back to the game's store and SteamDB page.

It's a bit of a compromise, but hopefully I added some value to the discussion.

Also, Steam "Desk" haha.

P.S.: forgot to mention, maybe such a feature would make more sense on AugmentedSteam, there's even a similar issue there already. In the meanwhile, several extensions offer this, see this one if you're using Firefox.

It would be a great addition not gonna lie, something like this mock up:
