Given the large number of editions of Halo titles, we need an unambiguous way to refer to them without being overly verbose each time. The standard should be added to the editor's guide (EDITORS.md) and applied across the wiki for any case we refer to a game by abbreviation.

I'm making the call that this is how we will do things for H1:

  • H1X is OG xbox
  • H1PC is retail (windows or mac)
  • H1CE is custom edition
  • H1A is anniversary (can qualify as MCC, 360, Xbone if needed)

We will avoid "CEA" or other terms where "CE" stands for Combat Evolved. CE will only mean custom edition.

H1A

why not H1MCC?

H1MCC
H2MCC
H3MCC

H1A i feel like should be its own designation, as the MCC version of the game is completely different from the standalone 360 game.

H1A is the line of the engine that includes Saber tech. H1A is in MCC and represents the most current version of that line. Sure, there are some differences between H1A 360 and H1A MCC but I'm not really aware of anyone modding H1A 360, so for c20 I think it's fine to use H1A to mean H1A in MCC by default. Contrast this with H1X vs H1PC and H1CE where each has more to talk about.
