Can Allegro A4954 be used with cmdrardunio?

I can buy a dual H-bridge shield from www.freetronics.com.au

Hi!

I expect that the Allegro part is fine. The data sheet doesn’t say anything about the timing—it might not be fast enough to keep up with the ~12KHz PWM that DCC requires. Only experimentation will tell, really!

The shield, however, is definitely not compatible with the CmdrArduino outputs :( You’d need a way to re-route the pins used by CmdrArduino (8, and I think maybe 9), to the pins used by that shield.

I've contact freetronics to see if the pins can be changed on the shield and to see if they know the speed of the Allergro A4954

freetronics replyed saying

The A4988 can be driven up to 50 kHz with PWM.

The pinouts on the shield are fixed however you could always remove the stacking headers and solder alternative connections.

ps : I noticed the chip number changed, they may have updated it
