<p>
The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Bioinformatics came in existence in the year 2016 under the University Teaching Department of Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India with the intake of 10 M.Tech Students per year. Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary branch which involves the study and implementation of the different engineering concepts in the wide arena of health care services to aid the doctors in better diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Bioinformatics deals with the area of the analysis of huge quantum of data coming out of genetic research which demands not only the knowledge of biology but also requires a sound knowledge of the statistics and computer science.
The department aims to be a well recognized and leading research institute in the field of biomedical engineering and bioinformatics to serve the man kind with the best possible health care advancements. The department is also committed to give its students and scholars a well round development so that they can excel both in their professional and personal lives and be the flag bearers of the research and development in the field of biomedical engineering and bioinformatics.

<p>A workshop was organized by the department on scientific writing and Interaction with experts from Rostock University (Germany) in November 2017 at CSVTU, Bhilai. Dr. Olaf Wolkenhauer and Dr. Shailendra Kumar Gupta from Rostock University, Germany were the eminent speakers who shared their experience and knowledge on the technical writing and the domain of bioinformatics and system biology.</p>

<h2>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA</h2>
<p>Duration: 2 yrs. The Candidates should have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent Examination in five subjects taken together including compulsory subjects of Physics, Mathematics and one subject of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science & English with 60% marks in aggregate (40% marks in the case of SC/ ST Category). Or Passed Diploma examination with at least 60% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category), subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.</p>
