From @michele-ornl and @rupesh2:

Rupesh and I have a short workshop in February at the BIOSPACE25 meeting. We are planning to develop content in the openscapes 2i2c environment. Given the workshop time allotment and lack of registration/ability to contact participants, we do not plan on having participants logging in.

From @jules32 :

this is great news! I’ll add this to a GitHub issue so we can track things there. You’ll want to use the new shared-password approach that LP (Mahsa and Erik) developed with 2i2c. @ateucher
can help you with that but here is starting documentation: https://openscapes.cloud/password-access.html

Julie added a start to NASA-OpenscapesCloudWorkshopsRegistry

Some notes brainstorming with @michele-ornl during Coworking today (more notes in the running coworking doc) (cc: @rupesh2 )

BIOSPACE25 conference and Michele and Rupesh's workshop abstract This is a first international with ESA (European Space Agency). In Italy, February 10-14, Frascati

BIOSPACE25 is the first international conference exclusively dedicated to the application of Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) across the various dimensions of biodiversity, and addressing the use of Earth Observations in all realms, from terrestrial, freshwater, coastal to marine ecosystems.

We worked on the POP a bit today.

  • Purpose (Draft):
    • welcome to vast catalog of NASA Earthdata for biodiversity, intro this through Bioscape (in South Africa (issue))
  • Outcomes (Draft):
    • folks have a better appreciation for NASA’s investment in biodiversity research and how they might use it
  • Process (Draft):
    • 1.5 hours
    • Slides + Live Demo
    • Live Demo is not follow-along. But welcome use: “We’re going to demo this, you’ll have access to this notebook in the cloud for a week” (use 2i2c shared password) and here is the link to the Cookbook/GitHub repo with the notebook for future reference

@ateucher is asking 2i2c about how to populate with a notebook beforehand. 🙌

I confirmed with 2i2c that there is no way to pre-load data or scripts/notebooks in the shared-password hub, so tutorials will have to either direct users clone a repository into the hub, or use nbgitpuller to launch the hub with a notebook
