surely something for later; especially since it would need a software component which always is running like a service or at least a task which frequently checks for new items.
But as some of the download tools around offer it, I would find it useful to have archives in a specific folder being automatically axtracted. The reason is simple: close to anything you download is in an archive and extracting it is a trivial task which is needed so often but needs close to no special informations to be done.
So, having some kind of monitoring or a regular task checking my download folder (and maybe others) would be a very nice thing to have. In the end, it even does not need all too much settings, also. Define which archives should be automatically extracted and to where and how (regarding the path) and maybe how often the specified folder(s) should be checked (in case of a task). Eventually an option to delete the archive if it could be successfully extracted to further expand its usefulness.
Even the simplest form of letting it check my download folder for defined archives every hour and just extract directly to there whenever it finds something would be cool.
I do not know how much effort this would take; maybe not so much when done as a task simply using hidden command line instructions in the background (maybe this could be even done by myself manually, but an official options would be much appreaciated; especially for people with lesser tech skills). Maybe a lot when using something like a service/agent/bot or whatever form of active background application (maybe that's not even needed or would not have much benefits).
Best regards,
Tim
