JabRef version

5.15 (latest release)

Operating system

macOS

Details on version and operating system

macOS 15.3.1

Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)

  • I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
  • I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Clicking on “Push entries to external application (TeXworks),” a new instance of TeXworks is launched, without entering any citations.

Which Texworks version are you using?

The problem occurs with both TeXworks 0.6.9 and TeXworks 0.6.10

I can reproduce this, same mac Version. This is weird. JabRef basically only calls:
open -a texworks -n --args --insert-text citationkey

It does not work on terminal for me either.
However, starting JabRef with open -a JabRef -n --args --debug works correctly.
So I would suggest it's somehow an issue with TexWorks in combination with macOS 15.

You should open an issue in TexWorks and reference your old one:

TeXworks/texworks#1022
