I'd like to easily embed an external file into a document.
Describe the solution you'd like
I really like to ditch MS Office for Collabora, just a few things I am missing.
One of them is embedding a file in a document by 'drag-n-drop' or 'copy-paste'. In MS Word I can select and copy (Ctrl+C) a file in the explorer, switch to Word (Alt+Tab) and paste (Ctrl+V) the document. The whole file is embedded, with a proper icon (pdf in my case), and the file name. When double-clicking the embedded file, it is opened in the associated application (not in Draw).
I know that in Collabora this can somehow be done by Insert OLE (Insert OLE Object), but this is not as fast and user friendly as in Word. Also it will not display a pdf icon and the filename.
The funny thing is: in Writer I opened a document created in MS Word that has a pdf embedded: Writer neatly shows a pdf icon and the pdf file name (see attached screenprint). And when I double click the icon, the pdf opens in the associated program. I can’t get this done with a new pdf file I want to embed in Writer.
